Press Release
A harmless duplicity (in materials, in perception, in dimensionality) highlights the phenomenological inquiries of artists Lauren Cherry and Max Springer. In their work, ruminations are perpetual and both complex and rudimentary. A lateral process of thinking, intuitive experimentation, deliberate conversation, and an explicit and implicit passing of concepts, materials, and objects between each other facilitates the formation of their newest installation. Plaza is a collaboration manifest as a place for gathering, and so, a place for interchange (of subjective experiences and fluid understandings). And in this space, between a constructed view of the outdoors (a built/altered nature) and a contained indoor space of found and created objects, flatness arises, dimensionality caves in, and experience becomes our guide. In this weird mental representation of external reality, Cherry and Springer evade the verity that what is inexplicable can’t be explained by asserting that at least it can be experienced.
